Suffering from foot pain? TOP OF FOOT PAIN

Top of Foot Pain

Have you ever played a short game of basketball or taken a short walk and came home to throbbing foot and ankle pain? You know you did not over extend yourself and you definitely did nothing to hurt your ankle so what can it be? One word to remember for top of foot pain... tendons. The top of foot is made up of a collection of tendons that span across the top of foot from your ankle to your toes. when you have a sensitivity in the top of foot tendons it could hurt when you bend your toes or move your ankle. these tendons on top of foot can make a simple game of basketball or a short walk feel like a broken foot.

Symptoms of top of foot pain:

- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Ankle pain
- Lack of motion without pain
- Redness
- Throbbing top of foot pain at night

What can you do when you have top of foot pain?

Unfortunately, there is not much you can when you have tendon pain related to top of foot pain. A few things you can do to help the top of foot pain and swelling subside are: 

- Soaking your foot in ice cold water will help with the pain and the swelling. Make sure you have enough ice water to cover the top of foot to target the top of foot pain.
- When your foot is not hurting it may help to stretch and loosen up your foot by moving it in a circular motion.
- take a break and sit as much as possible.
- the most important thing is to take a day or two and just lay down with your foot elevated.

I hope this article helps you at least understand top of foot pain and some of the things you can do to get past it. Top of foot pain is annoying and painful, unfortunately there is not positive cure for it but you can take care of it and be prepared when it occurs.
